Not because he was the most gifted player to wear the Fox on his chest. Not because he dominated county attacks for two decades. But because few players have ever embodied what it means to represent Leicestershire quite like Hill.
Born in the county, developed through the academy, debuting as a teenager and spending virtually his entire professional life at Grace Road, Hill's story has always felt intrinsically tied to the club itself. For many supporters, he has simply always been there.
