Foxes Revisited: The Last Time the Foxes Played in Division 1

The last time Leicestershire were gearing up to begin a campaign in Division One of the County Championship; there had not been a professional game of t20 cricket, James Anderson was yet to make his test debut, Michael Vaughan was the world number one test batter, Australia were the world number one side (some continuity there then!) and I was not even born yet!
After having no match in the first week, the Foxes travelled down to Canterbury in typically early season conditions to begin their campaign almost three weeks later than they will start this year. It had been a difficult winter, after a brilliant end to the 90’s, things had been tougher going to start the new millennium and big personnel changes were made coming into the season.
