Defeat in the East Midlands derby by 10 wickets masked what was a battling performance by the Foxes, who came unstuck on the first day with a crucial decision at the toss that wasn't backed up with the ball allowing the County Champions, Nottinghamshire, to control the game.

Whilst the visitors were comfortable throughout the match, there were periods that showed the development of this Leicestershire side with a battling innings by Stevie Eskinazi who hit 100 and overseas spinner Ajaz Patel (62) to guide the Foxes to two unlikely batting points, having been 112-7 at one stage.
