The Foxes first game back in Division One of the County Championship ended in defeat to Sussex at Grace Road as the financial woes of the South Coast side off the pitch seemed to have no impact in their performance as they won by 222 runs.

A first innings effort with both bat and ball that had glimpses of quality but saw periods of poor play put Leicestershire on the back foot and despite working hard to pull it back in the second innings, the Foxes left themselves too much to do.

A first-innings century from Sussex's Tom Clark was the stand-out performance for the visitors, though Leicester's new overseas star, Aussie Test opener Jake Weatherald impressed on debut and will be an important player in these first block of 4-day games.

Andy Moore takes a look at three analysis points from the loss to Sussex.
