Leicestershire continue to find life in Division One of the County Championship tough after a dismal second innings performance, having been on top in the first innings, ensure Essex came away with a 7-wicket victory inside 3 days at Chelmsford.
The Foxes knew going into the final game of the first block of County Championship fixtures, that a positive result was needed to keep in touch in the league but the second innings showing, where they were shot out for just 60, made much of the good work across the previous two days, a wasted opportunity.
The late loss of on-loan Middlesex bowler Tom Helm, ensured a first start this season for Ben Mike and he along with the Leicestershire bowlers gave them a 40 run lead after the hosts were bowled out for 293 after the Foxes posted 333 in their first innings, with half-centuries from Sol Budinger, Jake Weatherald and Stevie Eskinazi.
