Leicestershire have moved quickly to replace Club Captain Peter Handscomb with the signing of Australian Jake Weatherald for the first block of red-ball games.

The Foxes were rocked late last week with the news that promotion-winning skipper would miss the whole of the 2026 season due to family commitments. With a hole needing plugged in the middle-order, it hasn't taken the hierarchy at Grace Road to fill the void left by Handscomb.
