Leicestershire begin the 2026 English domestic season with a busy schedule across the three main competitions: the Rothesay County Championship (first-class), Vitality T20 Blast, and the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

County Championship

The campaign starts in early April with red-ball cricket before moving into the white-ball summer with the Blast in May and June, and finally the 50-over One Day Cup in late July. County Championship The Foxes open their Championship season at Uptonsteel County Ground (Grace Road) against Sussex in the first round beginning on 3 April 2026.

The competition again features 14 matches per team, played in three blocks throughout the summer and early autumn. For Leicestershire, the early part of the season will be crucial. Playing red-ball cricket before the Blast allows them to establish rhythm and test their squad depth, especially among seamers and young batters. Matches are typically played over four days, meaning momentum across the opening April rounds can shape the rest of the season.
