Leicestershire have announced the signing of South African all-rounder Ruan de Swardt on a short-term deal, with many Foxes supporters unfamiliar with his pedigree.
With Nick Kelly heading away on New Zealand international duty, Leicestershire needed someone who could hit the ground running during the closing stages of the Vitality Blast before remaining for the opening three Metro Bank One Day Cup fixtures. Rather than opting for a big-name T20 specialist, the Foxes have recruited a cricketer whose biggest strength is his versatility.
