The step up to Division One was always going to be difficult for Leicestershire. After years outside the top division, survival alone represented a realistic objective at the beginning of the season.
But as the season approaches its halfway point, the conversation is beginning to change. An impressive response after the defeat to Essex, culminating in a dominant innings victory over Yorkshire, has strengthened the growing belief that the Foxes are more than capable of competing at this level but they will need more when the competition resumes in August.
